SabarimalaSree Ayyappa Temple
The SabarimalaSree Ayyappa Temple is among the most sacred and highest visited temples in Kerala. Perched at a hilltop in the Western Ghats, this holy temple is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa. Nestled amidst dense thickets and rugged settings, devotees traverse to the main temple complex on foot and worship the Lord with full devotion and spirituality.
Mostly visited by the male devotees, Ayyappa temple opens twice a year – during the festival of Mandal Puja and MakaraSankranthi Puja between November and January. Devotees visiting this pious temple in the Pathnamthitta region of Kerala must wear a black or blue dress, sandalwood tilaka on the forehead, should avoid shaving and using any kind of footwear till they visit this holy temple.
