Archaeological Museum Kerala
Located within the premises of the exotic Thrissur Zoo, the Archaeological Museum is an epitome of art and archaeological importance in God’s Own Country. A prominent historical landmark within the city, this heritage building is a testimony to the rich and diverse history of Kerala.
One of the most popular museums in Kerala, Archaeological Museum has a significant collection of ancient artefacts and weapons used in the primitive days. Among all the belongings in this historical abode, the life-sized structures, models of ancient temples, and manuscripts written on palm leaves called ‘Olagrandhangal’ are some of the prized-possessions.
Archaeological Museum also displays arms and weapons used by the ancient armies. Most of these weapons were collected from the forests of Wayanad and Thrissur. Some of these weapons also belong to the historical Harappa Dynasty!
