Kottayam do not have an airport; the Cochin International Airport at a distance of 38km, serves as the nearest airport to reach Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. After arrival in Cochin, visitors can hire or avail private taxis or take the regular state-run buses to reach Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary.
